The Nature of Curating
The Nature of Curating is a groundbreaking series of interviews with influential curators that delves into the multifaceted nature of curatorial practice. Curating and the role of the curator have emerged as critical issues within the contemporary art field, shaping the way art is presented, interpreted, and experienced. In 2011/2012, Mousse Magazine released "Ten Fundamental Questions of Curating," edited by Jens Hoffmann, which sparked significant discourse on the subject.

In the Iranian art scene, art galleries serve as the primary model for exhibition practices, while a contemporary non-profit institutional system and curatorial studies are scarce. Art forms that are considered "difficult to sell," such as ephemeral forms, video art, installation art, and performance, struggle to find platforms for meaningful discussion. The Nature of Curating sets out to challenge the existing curatorial landscape in Iran by exploring its aesthetic, social, political, and philosophical dimensions. It also aims to investigate the disparities between contemporary art practices and exhibition practices within the country.

Through a series of thought-provoking interviews, The Nature of Curating seeks to raise awareness about the significance and necessity of curatorial engagement. The interviews feature a diverse range of international curators with varied backgrounds and perspectives. Fundamental questions about curating and the pivotal role of curators are explored, shedding light on their viewpoints regarding the nationalization of contemporary art, the utilization of alternative spaces, and other relevant topics within the Iranian art scene.

 ماهیت کیوریت کردن
کیوریت کردن و نقش کیوریتور یکی از مهمترین موضوعات در حوضه ی هنر معاصر است. در 2011 و 2012 نشریه ی Mousse مطلبی را با عنوان "ده پرسش اساسی درمورد کیوریت کردن" توسط جینز هافمن منتشر کرد. سوالات به شرح زیر بودند:
شخص کیوریتور کیست؟ چه کاری انجام میدهد؟ در ارتباط با هنر معاصر چه کاری انجام میدهد؟ چرا هنر به درمیان مردم میرود و عموم چه کسانی هستند؟ نمایشگاه چیست؟ در مورد مجموعه داری وضع چگونه است؟ آینده ی هنر چگونه خواهد بود؟ روند کیوریت کردن چگونه است؟ مسئولیت شخص کیوریتور چیست؟
در ایران گالریهای هنری تنها متولیان برگزاری نمایشگاه هستند. موسسات غیر انتفاعی با دغدغه ی هنر معاصر به ندرت وجود دارند همانطور که دانش چگونه کیوریت کردن کمیاب است. آثاری که عموما به سختی قابل فروش هستند، مانند آثار میرا، ویدئو، هنر چیدمان و هنر اجرایی، تولید میشوند اما به ندرت میتوانند مجال نمایش در فضای مناسب را پیدا کنند
این پروژه مسئله ی کیوریت کردن را در ارتباط با مفاهیمی چون زیبایی شناسی، جامعه ، سیاست و عناوین معاصر فلسفه ی هنر به چالش میکشد. و همچنین پیرامون پرسشهایی در باب تفاوتهای میان هنر معاصر و کارکرد نمایشگاه/ گالری در ایران بحث میکند
پروژه ی "ماهیت کیوریت کردن" تلاشی است برای تاکید بر اهمیت و ضرورت تعاملات در نمایشگاه گردانی. در این پروژه از طیف گسترده ای از کیوریتورهای بین المللی، با پیشینه ها و دیدگاههای متفاوت سوالاتی بنیادی درمورد کیوریت کردن نمایش و اهمیت این مسئله از نقطه نظر ایشان در همه گانی کردن هنر معاصر، و جایگزین کردن فضاهای مناسب و بسیاری سوالات دیگر مرتبط با هنر معاصر ایران بعمل خواهد آمد
